Congratulations to Katherine Applegate and Jon Klassen, respectively the winners of this year's Newbery and Caldecott Medals as awarded by the American Library Association!
Applegate's book, The One and Only Ivan focuses on Ivan, a gorilla living in a mall arcade, while Klassen's book, This is Not My Hat follows a little fish wearing someone else's hat. If you've read Klassen's 2011 book I Want My Hat Back, a cute bear missing his hat with a bloodthirsty ending, you won't be too surprised by how this one ends.
